Renewable Energy: As nonrenewable resources become scarcer, renewable energy has emerged as a source of stable, secure energy. Constellation has significant experience maximizing the benefits of renewable energy technology in industrial settings. Geothermal heat pumps, biomass fuels, photovoltaic materials, solar heating and daylighting are just some of the cost-cutting renewable energy options available.
Energy Incentives: The Energy Policy Act of 2005 created significant incentives for industrial business owners to invest in energy efficiency through tax deductions, tax credits, grants and loans. Hundreds of state and local incentive programs add urgency to taking full advantage of these opportunities. We have experience in helping our customers take maximum advantage of these programs.
Our intrinsic understanding of complex industrial processes has resulted in some notable successes. For a diversified industrial company with customers worldwide, we completed a $22 million project that involved staged distillation to reduce steam usage, heat recovery on boilers, lighting retrofits, new boiler installation and waste oil recovery. The customer realized savings of $5.7 million per year, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 30,000 tons per year.
For a global company with multiple brands, we executed a $5.6 million project that involved installing variable speed drives for pumps, high-efficiency lighting, economizer-free cooling, and a state-of-the-art energy management system, as well as a cost-saving commodity arrangement. The project generated savings of $2.5 million per year and reduced the company's energy usage by more than 40 percent-with no investment on the customer's part.
