Constellation Energy Projects & Services to
Partner on Energy Efficiency Program
BALTIMORE – Feb. 7, 2008 – Constellation
Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced it has signed an agreement
with the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) to jointly pursue
opportunities to lower harmful emissions and improve energy
efficiency.
“This partnership with CCI illustrates
Constellation Energy’s commitment to becoming one of the leading
providers of energy efficient products and services,” said Paul
J. Allen, chief environmental officer and senior vice president,
Constellation Energy. “These programs significantly improve
energy efficiency, lower emissions and save money. We look
forward to pursuing qualified projects with CCI and
demonstrating how the latest innovation in energy products and
services can drive measurable and meaningful environmental and
economic results.”
Under one element of the CCI initiative,
the C40 Large Building Retrofit Program, participating cities
pre-qualify a pool of energy service companies that can respond
to request for proposals (RFP) for energy efficiency projects at
large municipal buildings. Companies selected for projects will
conduct energy audits, design and implement an energy retrofit
plan, oversee site work and provide performance guarantees on
energy usage and savings.
In addition to the C40 Large Building
Retrofit Program, Constellation Energy supports the American
College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, or ACUPCC,
which has partnered with the Clinton Climate Initiative on a
comprehensive program to introduce more green energy solutions
to college campuses. The ACUPCC has received commitments from
400 colleges and universities to develop a comprehensive plan to
reduce emissions that cause global warming.
President Bill Clinton’s foundation
launched CCI in August 2006, with the mission of applying the
Clinton Foundation’s business-oriented approach to the fight
against climate change in practical, measurable and significant
ways.

6,400 UNI-SOLAR(R) Panels to Provide Half of Energy at Fontana,
Calif. Warehouse
BALTIMORE, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation
Energy (NYSE: CEG) today announced that its subsidiary,
Constellation Energy Projects & Services Group (CEPS), has
signed an agreement with General Motors Corporation to construct
a solar power system that will generate approximately 870 kw of
power and supply nearly half of the power requirements at GM's
300,000-square-foot Service and Parts Operations warehouse in
Fontana, Calif.
Constellation Energy will own and operate the rooftop system and
provide power to the GM facility under a 25-year power purchase
agreement.
The
photovoltaic solar installation, one of the largest of its kind
for a corporate customer, will feature 6,400 UNI-SOLAR(R) solar
panels. GM estimates the project will reduce greenhouse gas
emissions by 355 metric tons annually and reduce electricity
costs by approximately 10 percent.
"At
General Motors we understand that good environmental decisions
are good business decisions and solar energy is a perfect
example of this," said Elizabeth A. Lowery, GM vice president,
Environment, Energy and Safety Policy. "The new solar arrays on
our rooftops are reducing our energy costs and carbon footprint,
while providing green energy to the community."
"These projects represent cost-effective and turn-key energy
management solutions because Constellation constructs, owns and
operates the on-site renewable systems and customers enjoy
stable, long-term energy prices," said Gregory Jarosinski,
president of Constellation Energy Projects & Services.
"Environmental leaders like GM recognize that with today's
technology and the expertise of a skilled energy partner,
sustainable solutions make sense economically and
environmentally."
In
August, Constellation Energy announced the completion of its
first solar photovoltaic system in partnership with leading
aluminum manufacturer Alcoa and DEERS, owner of the patent
pending solar rooftop attachment design. The new system -- a
588,000-watt, roof-mounted photovoltaic solar power system --
recently began operation at the Alcoa Building and Construction
Systems' Kawneer manufacturing facility in Visalia, Calif. Power
is generated by more than 4,300 UNI-SOLAR(R) solar panels.

BALTIMORE, August 30, 2007 -
Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG) today announced that its
subsidiary, Constellation Energy Projects & Services Group (CEPS),
has constructed and will own and operate a new photovoltaic
solar power system in California, marking CEPS’ initial step in
the solar power market.
Constellation Energy Projects & Services constructed the solar
photovoltaic system in partnership with leading aluminum
manufacturer Alcoa and DEERS, owner of the patent pending solar
rooftop attachment design. The new system – a 588,000-watt,
roof-mounted photovoltaic solar power system – began operating
this week at the Alcoa Building and Construction Systems’
Kawneer manufacturing facility in Visalia, Calif. As part of
this project, Constellation Energy Projects & Services will own
the energy assets and will sell the electricity it generates on
site back to Alcoa.
“Stabilizing energy prices is becoming a business imperative for
forward-looking companies such as Alcoa, and we are pleased to
be a partner on this project,” said Gregory Jarosinski,
president of Constellation Energy Projects & Services. “We
clearly recognize the value of renewable energy sources such as
solar power and are currently working on a number of similar
solar photovoltaic projects. With CEPS owning and operating an
on-site renewable energy system, we can offer customers stable
long-term energy prices, while also supporting the growth of
zero-emission sources of energy.”
“Alcoa is pleased to have another leading Fortune 500 company as
the prime contractor and long term partner for implementing this
sustainable energy solution,” said David Schlendorf, president,
Alcoa Building and Construction Systems.
The power generated by more than 4,300 UNI-SOLAR™ solar panels
will provide approximately 80% percent of the
200,000-square-foot facility’s electricity needs, during periods
when demand on the electricity grid is greatest. In addition to
the solar panels, more than 200 solar light tubes were installed
to supplement the artificial lighting in the facility with day
lighting.
Constellation Energy Projects & Services is currently developing
and constructing several solar photovoltaic projects – similar
to the size and scope of the Alcoa project – in the United
States.

Constellation Energy (NYSE: CEG)
today announced that its subsidiary, Constellation Energy
Projects & Services Group (CEPS), has been awarded a State of
Maryland Indefinite Delivery Contract (IDC) by the Maryland
Department of General Services (DGS).
This two-year designation allows
CEPS to provide services to state agencies and local governments
throughout Maryland by implementing energy and cost-saving
technologies that do not require additional money from capital
or expense budgets. Additionally, as government agencies take
steps beyond these traditional energy conservation measures,
Constellation Energy is in an excellent position to assist with
its extensive experience in renewable technologies, including
solar, biomass and geothermal.
"Since 1995, Maryland's energy
performance contracts have created savings of almost $400
million," said DGS Secretary Alvin C. Collins. "By taking
advantage of guaranteed energy-performance contracting, the
State improves the energy efficiency of its building operations,
saves energy, saves money, and has a positive impact on the
environment."
Under this contract,
Constellation Energy has successfully worked with a number of
state clients, including Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
(WSSC), which was the first local or municipal government agency
to sign a contract through the state's process. This business
partnership has resulted in significant operational cost
savings, the incorporation of renewable energy in the form of
wind power and projected energy savings of more than $20 million
over the term of the project.
"Constellation Energy will
identify cost-saving and environmentally friendly energy-related
solutions that will significantly reduce utility, operations and
maintenance expenses for clients under this contract," said Greg
Jarosinski, president of CEPS. "WSSC is a wonderful example of
the success and flexibility this contract allows Constellation
Energy to bring to our customers in today's competitive
marketplace."
Headquartered in Maryland,
Constellation Energy will use Maryland-based firms to provide
technical and construction subcontracting services for agencies
within the state.
Under the IDC, Constellation
Energy will offer a full range of energy efficiency consulting,
including the initial site audits/surveys, presentation of
saving opportunities, financing, project implementation and
maintenance services. Types of equipment targeted during the
audits are heating, air conditioning, controls and lighting.
